The “In concert for Save the Music” project, in collaboration with “La Scala Chamber Orchestra”, was aimed at presenting the ‘Save the Music’ project, held on 11 May at the Sala Orlando of Palazzo Castiglione in Corso Venezia in Milan, on the occasion of the creation of the Culture Centre of the Unione del Commercio and of the Foundation’s tenth anniversary.
The Save the Music Project created in 2002 is aimed at taking music to education and to the cultural education of all children, since as the African saying goes … ”if you teach a boy, you make a wise man. If you educate a child, you build a nation”…
For this purpose, musical instruments were supplied to complete or lay out laboratories in primary and secondary schools located in poor areas in Lombardy, according to the information received from the School Regional Office.
The Concert’s programme drew inspiration from the Monzino Family’s activity, which commenced back in 1750: the manufacturing of string and plectrum musical instruments. World-famous pieces by Vivaldi and Piazzolla were played during the performance.
Some of the collection’s string instruments, amongst which, a small violin of great value of Milanese Luthier Carlo Antonio Testore, dated 1759 and restored for that occasion, were played during the concert.
| We thank the Cariplo Foundation for having contributed to the performance of the project. |
